Police arrest 4 as part of investigation into Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death

TORONTO — Police in New York City raided a suspected drug den Tuesday night and arrested four people who allegedly sold heroin to actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Officers reportedly found about 350 envelopes containing what could be heroin inside three units of a Mott Street building.

Robert Vineberg, 57, Thomas Kushman 48, were charged with felony drug possession. Two 22-year-olds — Max Rosenblum and Juliana Luchkiw, were charged with misdemeanor drug possession.

Hoffman was found dead Sunday inside a New York apartment of a suspected heroin overdose. He was 46.

There was no timetable for Hoffman’s autopsy to be finished, said medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Julie Bolcer, who declined to discuss the pending tests.

Investigators said Tuesday there is no evidence the heroin found inside Hoffman’s apartment did not contain the potent synthetic morphine fentanyl.

The additive is used to intensify the high and has been linked to nearly two dozen deaths in Pennsylvania.

Hoffman’s funeral is set for Friday.
