Meg Tilly among ACTRA Awards nominees

TORONTO — Meg Tilly of Global’s Bomb Girls is among the nominees for the 12th Annual ACTRA Awards in Toronto.

Tilly, 53, earned a nod for playing Lorna Corbett on the Canadian series, which returns as a TV movie later this year.

She is up against Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Amanda Brugel (Sex After Kids), Jennifer Podemski (Empire of Dirt) and Helen Shaver (Down River).

Nominees in the Outstanding Performance – Male category are Michael D. Cohen (It Was You Charlie), Maxwell McCabe-Lokos (The Husband), David Sutcliffe (Cracked), Hugh Thompson (Forgive Me).

Also nominated is Rick Roberts, who portrayed the late NDP leader Jack Layton in the biopic Jack.

“High calibre performances like these are building our Canadian star system,” said David Sparrow, President of ACTRA Toronto, in a release.

A third category of nominees honours voice actors.

The 2014 Award of Excellence, which recognized a body of work and commitment to advocacy for all performers, will be presented to veteran Canadian actor R.H. Thomson.

Marco Bianco will receive the Stunt Award. He has worked on dozens of made-in-Canada films and TV shows, including Kick-Ass, Republic of Doyle and the Total Recall reboot.

ACTRA Toronto represents over 15,000 performers in the English-language recorded media industry.

The awards show, hosted by Darrell Dennis, takes place Feb. 22 at The Carlu.
