Police identify man killed in fight at TTC station

WATCH: Witness recounts fatal stabbing at Jane Subway Station

Toronto police have identified a man they say was killed in a fight at a TTC station Tuesday evening.

Toronto resident Matthew Rumble, 39, was fatally stabbed at Jane Subway Station, police said, and officers are now looking for a male suspect and a female person of interest.

Police said Rumble and the suspect were involved in an argument while on a bus. The two exited the vehicle at Jane station in the bus bay area, where they were involved in a physical altercation.

Rumble was stabbed during the fight, police said. Paramedics took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect and an unknown female reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Police said they’re looking for a male who is around five-foot-nine to five-foot-11 with a thin build.

The female person of interest was described as having blonde hair and a thin build.

TTC CEO Rick Leary released a statement Tuesday following the incident.

“Like everyone, we are shocked and saddened to learn of a fatal stabbing today during an altercation at our Jane Station,” it said in part. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“The TTC will continue to assist police in whatever ways we can in the course of their investigation, including providing all video evidence we have.”
