A 28-year-old man has died in a Friday morning shooting in a residential area of Surrey.
RCMP said officers were called to 164 Street and 10 Avenue at approximately 8:46 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the man who was injured and who eventually died at the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to handle the case.
After a burned vehicle was located a short time later in the area of 18500 McMillan Road, Surrey RCMP, Air 1 and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team were dispatched.
Four suspects were identified and taken into custody, police said.
Initial evidence suggests this was a targeted shooting, according to IHIT. Investigators have identified the victim, but are not releasing his name at this time, to allow for proper notification of the family.
“IHIT is in the process of transitioning the investigation from the Surrey RCMP and are thankful for their excellent work,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said in a release. “We will continue to be in the area processing the scene and canvassing for witnesses.”
