Toronto police said they were called to an address near Eglinton Avenue West and Kipling Avenue just after 2 p.m. to respond to a stabbing.

One male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man was arrested, according to an initial social media post.

Speaking at the scene later in the day, Det. Sgt. Phillip Campbell said the victim was an elderly man. He had injuries from a stabbing when investigators made it to the address but was pronounced dead.

A younger male suspect living at the same address was arrested by police. Campbell said he didn’t believe there was a broader threat to public safety and said the incident was thought to be family-related.

No one else was found inside the home.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or potential witnesses to get in touch.
