Moose Jaw police, EMS and the fire department were on the scene of a single-vehicle collision just outside of Moose Jaw, Sask. throughout Thursday.
The westbound lane of Highway 1 between the Manitoba Expressway and Thatcher Drive East was closed from around 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
According to police, the collision involved a person being hit, and then becoming stuck under the vehicle.
The individual was taken to hospital with “serious injuries.”
“At this time, the individual’s condition is unknown,” Moose Jaw Police said.
Bonnie Johnston works at a business across the street from the incident.
“It was very quick response,” she said describing emergency services.
“When I first came outside there was a fire truck and a police vehicle,” she said. “Within less than a minute from when I came out, there was a lot more presence on sight and trying to block the traffic to get the incident taken care of.”
Johnston said the area where the accident occurred has been under construction for about a month. She said she saw someone being taken away in an ambulance.
“People need to slow down in construction zones. I am just hoping this person is going to be okay.”
