The City of Vancouver has selected a new candidate to lead its board of parks and recreation, and it didn’t have to look very far.
Global News has learned acting Vancouver Park Board general manager Steve Jackson has been appointed to take the position permanently.
Jackson, a chartered accountant, had held the role in an acting capacity since last spring. He has previously served in a variety of roles with the park board, including director of business services.
He has previously worked as a senior manager of financial planning and analysis at CHC Helicopter and as treasurer and director for the non-profit Sources Community Resource Centres.
Jackson replaces former park board general manager Donnie Rosa, who parted ways with the parks department on May 15.
As general manager, Rosa was among the city’s highest-paid employees, making more than $290,000 per year.
