MONTREAL – An advertisement for recruiting healthcare workers was making the rounds on social media in Quebec on Thursday.
Lakeridge Health in Ontario has launched a new recruitment campaign that welcomes medical staff, no matter what they wear.
The poster reads “We don’t care what’s on your head, we care what’s in it.”
The campaign is in response to the Quebec governments recent announcement of its controversial plans for a charter of values, which would ban public sector employees from wearing overt religious symbols.
The charter could affect civil servants, health-care personnel, teachers, provincial court judges, daycare workers, police, municipal employees and university staff, preventing them from wearing a hijab, turban, kippa, large visible crucifix or other overt religious symbols while at work.
The hospital noted on Twitter in response to the ad, “We’re proud of everyone who works here. We need the best of the best!”
