TDSB to debate budget cuts at final meeting

TORONTO – It’s the final Toronto District School Board meeting of the school year Wednesday evening, but it won’t be the easiest.

The board is tasked with finding a way to cut some of its $27 million budget deficit and certain programs could see some major cuts.

In the face of heavy protest, the board seems to have backed off on its plan to cut music programs to save an extra $2 million.

That means they have to look elsewhere and reports suggest charging for the International Baccalaureate program could be an option.

The grade 11 and 12 diploma program is run out of six TDSB high schools.

706 students are expected to be enrolled next year.
