Men face multiple charges after F-150 crashes into 2 Nova Scotia RCMP cruisers

A Nova Scotia man is facing multiple charges after he hit two RCMP cruisers and attempting to flee from police.

Police were called to Hardwood Lands, N.S., just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday about a possible impaired driver, when a Ford F-150 hit two police vehicles and fled the scene.

The crash caused considerable damage to the police cruisers.

Officers in two other vehicles then initiated a pursuit along Highway 14.

The vehicle eventually stopped by a dirt embankment and police were able to arrest two suspects.

The driver of the vehicle, Steven Wade Nowe, 52, of Indian Brook has been charged with:

• Impaired operation of a motor vehicle;
• Operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit;
• Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon;
• Use of a vehicle in the commission of an offence;
• Operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police;
• Two counts of mischief over $5,000;
• Driving while prohibited.

The passenger, a 22-year-old man from Indian Brook, is facing a charge of assault with a weapon.

Nowe was held in custody before appearing in Truro Provincial Court on Wednesday, he was then remanded in custody until his appearance Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

RCMP say their investigation is ongoing.
