Two contestants from The Bachelor have looked beyond the rose ceremonies and found a deep connection with each other.

For several months, former contestants Megan Marx and Tiffany Scanlon from the Australian edition of the show have been posting Instagram posts, with captions like “my favourite person,” and “there are many things that I love but this is one.”

Marx’s most recent Instagram post honours a love between the pair that went from originally being about friendship to “something bolder.”

The two joined 25 contestants who dated Bachelor Richie Strahan, but by the time they were kicked off the show, which aired between July and September this year, they’d already felt sparks between them.

“I met Tiffany in a very strange situation,” Marx wrote in an Instagram post celebrating Scanlon’s 30th birthday. “Well… we were kind of dating the same guy. And it was filmed and put on TV.”

Marx continues, saying of Scanlon, “I have to admit that I felt so so proud to be with her, my favourite person, celebrating such a momentous occasion on the water — a mutual love of ours. She is so confident in the ocean and in every adventure, as if every new experience is a winning of the lottery somehow, a chance to grow and learn and develop.”

She continues: “From that first cocktail party, it was like this instant calibration between souls, as if we had known each other once before. Friendship ripened into something bolder, trust in a very strange situation was formed, and now every adventure we have rivals the other — and continues to make plans for itself.”

On her own Instagram, Scanlon wrote, “Meeting Megan this year felt like destiny. … I know we will have many more adventures for many years to come.”

Scanlon was eliminated in the show’s third week, despite having won the first impression rose in the season’s premiere. Strahan eventually chose Alex Nation.

People began to notice the possibility of a romance between the two contestants after Scanlon left the competition and a photo was posted to Instagram of the two women topless, sharing a bowl of spaghetti.

“I think you can probably tell from the pictures that have been posted that we don’t have the most conventional relationship,” Marx told OK! magazine in September, which reported that she “[did not] deny that the pair were an item” when asked.

“I think that when it comes to attraction, for me, it’s usually a connection of minds and humour before anything else and I’m traditionally attracted to men but I don’t rule anything out …

“I would say Tiff’s in the same boat.”
