Police said they believe a northbound motorcycle collided with a car while both were trying to pass another vehicle.
They added that the 35-year-old British Columbia man who was driving the motorcycle was sent to hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, a 40-year-old woman from B.C., was airlifted to hospital by STARS with serious injuries. The 37-year-old driver of the car was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
RCMP said they are continuing to investigate what contributing factors may have led to the crash.
