MONTREAL – The STM is investigating after one of its employees was caught in an apparent slumber while the Metro was stopped at Laurier station, on the orange line.
“We are aware of the photo. As we do for cases, irregular situations, we are doing an internal inquiry and we’ll take the appropriate measures,” said Isabelle Tremblay, a spokesperson for the STM.
“The STM doesn’t condone what happened.”
A photograph of the operator, posted on Twitter on May 20, shows the man leaning back in his chair as people stand inside the cars.
“I’d love to get paid to sleep on the job. It’s a reassurance that he’s not driving, but it doesn’t mean anything because he’s going to be driving on the way back,” said STM rider Woolly Pierre Jacques.
“How long is the train ride and is he going to be fully awake? Because I know it takes me a full half hour to wake up and I don’t nap at work because I don’t wake up.”
