Police have charged a Toronto man in connection to a 2015 hit-and-run collision in the city’s downtown core that left a mother of three children dead.
Nelisa Damota, 39, was struck while crossing Bloor Street West near Dovercourt Road on May 31 just after 9 p.m. by a car travelling westbound.
After Damota was hit, police said she was thrown into westbound traffic where she was struck by a second vehicle.

Damota was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Shortly after the collision, police said they were looking for an older model white, four-door Mercedes Benz.
Officers appealed to the public asking for surveillance footage in an effort to identify the driver.

Deriba Wakene, 56, has been charged with one count of failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Thursday morning.
