TORONTO – Nellie Junipero is the owner of Body Revival Spa in Brampton. She’s also a certified oncology aesthetician.

Using gentle and safe products, Junipero offers therapy treatments such as facials, massages, and hair and skin services to those dealing with cancer.

“We actually are trained to know how to take care of people who are living with cancer or ongoing treatments with cancer,” says Junipero.

Tammy Snow and her mother Linda both have cancer and visit Nellie regularly for her services.

“You come out of here feeling good – which when you’re in treatment that’s hard to feel,” says Snow.

“You look in the mirror at yourself and you have no hair, you have no eyebrows, you have no eyelashes. It’s hard to find who you really are.”

The modified spa services Nellie offers to both cancer survivors and those still in treatment, helps them to feel both physically and mentally better about themselves.

“What we do know is emotional well-being is so important in terms of their overall outlook and their overall recovery,” says Dr. Anjalee Gupta, a family physician practicing in aesthetic medicine.

As a cancer survivor herself, Nellie started a support group 12 years ago called Circle of Hope. It’s for anyone whose lives have been touched by cancer. The next event will be held this Sunday, April 24th at the Sagan Banquet Hall in Mississauga.
