A 25-year-old Newmarket woman faces several charges after police say she drove drunk, danced on the street and evaded officers before her car was boxed in.
Durham Regional police responded to a call regarding an erratic driver in a black Dodge Journey weaving across lanes of Highway 401 at Salem Road in Ajax Saturday just after 10 p.m.
At around 10:50 p.m., another caller reported the same car driving on the wrong side of the road on Rossland Road East.

Police said the female driver then turned north on Audley Road, stopped briefly as she exited her car, danced on the street and then drove away before slamming into curbs on both sides of the road.
Officers attempted to stop the car, but police said the driver accelerated away at a high rate of speed. Police said she then drove through a traffic light and weaved through both directions of traffic before cruisers could box her car in.
Tiffany Brown, 25, of Newmarket, was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, exceed 80 mgs of alcohol, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and three offences under the Highway Traffic Act. She was later released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear for an undisclosed future court date.

Brown was one of 10 impaired drivers arrested by Durham Regional police during the weekend and police are encouraging the public to call 911 when they see erratic driving.
