WINNIPEG – Defensive back Graig Newman is heading back to Saskatchewan following two years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Roughriders signed the 26-year-old Canadian during the opening day of CFL free agency. Of the nine Bombers who hit the market Tuesday morning, Newman was the only player Winnipeg was interested in keeping.

Newman participated in Saskatchewan’s training camp back in 2011. He was signed later that year following the completion of his junior career and played two seasons with the Roughriders. Newman joined the Bombers as a free agent in 2014 but did not play that year due to an injury he suffered in a pre-season game.
Newman had 13 tackles last year including eight on special teams. He has a total of 50 tackles and one sack in 48 career games.
Newman won a Grey Cup with the Roughriders in 2013.
