Needle found in chocolate bar in Toronto, tampered candy cases now jump to 8 in Ontario

TORONTO – Toronto police have reported yet another incident of tampered Halloween candy after a needle was found inside a chocolate bar this week, making the total in Ontario to eight.

The latest discovery was made on Nov. 3 after a three-year-old girl saw a needle lodged inside a piece of candy.

Police said the incident happened in the Keele Street and Lawerence Avenue West area. She was not injured.

Authorities are reminding parents to stay vigilant and to thoroughly inspect all candies before eating them.

Areas in Ontario where tampered candies were found include:

  • Toronto – Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue West area
  • Toronto – Eastwood Road and Woodbine Avenue area
  • Kawartha Lakes – Little Britain community
  • Fort Erie – Dominion Road area
  • Town of Thorold – Confederation Heights area
  • Town of Thorold – Keefer Road area
  • Niagara-on-the-Lake – Wright Street area
  • St. Catharines – Beachaven Dr. area
