Bisons Jamel Lyles wins third conference player of the week award

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Bisons running back/kick returner Jamel Lyles has been the Canada West Special Teams Athlete of the Week for helping the Herd to a 42-32 come-from-behind victory over the Alberta Golden Bears Friday night.

Lyles returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter to tie the game. The 19-year-old rookie also added 119 rushing yards and ran in a 33-yard touchdown to finish the match with 258 all-purpose yards.

The nod marks the third time Lyles has been named a conference player of the week this season. He took home the offensive honour in week one and the special teams award in week two.

The Manitoba Bisons (2-2) open a two-game homestand this friday when they host the Regina Rams (0-4) in their annual homecoming game at Investors Group Field.
