KELOWNA–Gusting winds up to 70 kilometres per hour have forced fire crews to be pulled and helicopters to be grounded from the Canadian side of the Stickpin fire, burning in Washington state.
The wildfire is burning just over four kilometres away from the Canadian border, but the winds are causing concern it could creep closer.
More than 700 evacuation alerts remain in effect for the Grand Forks and Christina Lake areas.
While temperatures have cooled, the area has not received significant rainfall.
The Stickpin fire is now mapped at 21, 638 hectares.
