Federal Election 2015: Delta riding results

Summary: Containing both urban and rural populations, Delta is home to MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay, now B.C.’s senior cabinet minister.

Boundaries: This riding contains all of the municipality of Delta, which includes the neighbourhoods of Tsawwassen, Ladner, and North Delta.

Last Election: This is a new seat created from Delta-Richmond East (which elected Conservative MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay by 31 per cent in 2011) and Newton-North Delta (which elected NDP MP Jinny Sims by 2 per cent in 2011).

Had this riding existed in the last election, the Conservatives would have taken it by 19.9 per cent more votes than the NDP (based on polling results).

History: The western part of the riding has been part of districts that have always elected right-wing candidates. However, North Delta has been part of ridings that have supported all of the major parties.

Demographics: Just 10.2 per cent of people are considered low income, the lowest number in British Columbia.
