Arson cause of Saskatoon house fire

SASKATOON – A fire that destroyed a vacant house in Saskatoon on Saturday was deliberately set. An investigator determined the fire was started by an incendiary agent.

Officials with the Saskatoon Fire Department said they received multiple 911 calls just after 5 p.m. of heavy smoke and flames coming from the house at 1317 Idylwyld Dr.

Crews arrived to find a boarded up home engulfed in flames. It took firefighters 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

A search confirmed the house was vacant.

Damage is estimated at $250,000.
