EDMONTON – Two men are in custody after a break-in at a Lloydminster liquor store early Tuesday morning that resulted in a Mountie firing several shots at a pickup truck
RCMP responded to the break-in around 3 a.m. Shortly afterwards officers spotted two trucks connected to the crime. Police used a spike belt to stop one of the vehicles.
Police say something happened that sparked an officer to fire his pistol, but no one was hurt. A 20-year-old man from Lloydminster and a 29-year-old man from Onion Lake were arrested.
The shooting is under investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, and police are still looking for the second truck.
It’s a dark grey 1993 Chevrolet truck, with a GMC grill and tailgate with chrome side panels. The back window of the truck has white tape in a Union Jack design.
The owner of the truck later reported it had been stolen. Police said it is equipped with green under-glow lighting, which may or may not be activated.
If anyone sees the stolen truck truck, they’re urged not to to approach it, but rather to call 911 or their local police.
