UPDATED: Child of Penticton murder victim staying with grandparents

UPDATED:  As another court appearance nears for the two people charged in connection to the death of Roxanne Louie, word is her three-year-old son is in the care of his grandparents.  The family is also clarifying that the murder suspect, 65-year-old Grace Robotti, is the boy’s great grandma and not directly related to Roxanne Louie as previously reported.  Robotti is charged with second degree murder.  Her 61-year-old brother, Pier Robotti, is charged with indignity to a body and being an accessory after the fact to murder.  The pair will appear in court in Penticton on Thursday.

Sources have told Global News Roxanne Louie’s body was found in the wilderness between Naramata and Chute Lake.

Robotti’s neighbours are troubled by the murder and the charge against her.

“It is hard to believe. I’m just truly amazed that this could happen,” says neighbour Leigh Ondrack.

“She keeps to herself quite a bit. Just knowing her on (strata) council, she’s a nice person and very dedicated to the work she was doing on council.”

RCMP say Grace Elinor Robotti’s brother, Pier Louis Robotti, has been charged with interference with a dead body and accessory after the fact to murder.

The brother lives in the Naramata area, and that’s where our sources say the victim was found.

Louie has a three-year-old son, who’s often seen visiting Grace Robotti and playing in the neighbourhood streets.

“[Robotti] adored the little boy, just loved him. Whenever she was with him, she just doted on him,” says Ondrack.

But according to mobile home park neighbours, Louie’s visits were not as  frequent.

“I think I’ve only seen Roxanne once…probably before Christmas and maybe in the summer, but I don’t really pay attention.”

Louie was last seen on the morning of Sunday, January 4. She was a member of the Osoyoos Indian band. She was living in Vancouver but was in the Okanagan visiting.
