VANCOUVER – The top baby names in B.C. for 2013 have been released and for the fourth time in five years, Olivia has topped the list for girls born in the province.
The results for 2014 have not yet been compiled and will be released at the end of 2015.
According to the Vital Statistics Agency, Liam took the top spot for boys in 2013, replacing Ethan, which was top of the list in 2012.
Top 5 names for girls born in B.C. in 2013:
- Olivia
- Emma
- Sophia
- Emily
- Ava
Chole, Charlotte, Ella, Avery and Hannah rounded out the top 10.
Top 5 names for boys born in B.C. in 2013:
- Liam
- Mason
- Ethan
- Lucas
- Benjamin
Logan, William, Alexander, Oliver and Noah rounded out the top 10 for boys.

There were 43,925 babies born in B.C. in 2013, which includes 22,491 boys and 21,434 girls.
