EDMONTON – Smoky Lake RCMP were contacted by staff at H.A. Kostash School after a nine-year-old student turned over a small amount of marijuana.
The RCMP investigation determined that the child found the drugs in a piece of clothing they were wearing. The clothes were borrowed and belonged to an adult relative in their home. The drugs were seized by school staff and turned over to police.
A 32-year-old woman from Smoky Lake has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Smoky Lake is about 115 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
