Bomb threats force evacuation of Calgary and Cochrane Safeway stores

CALGARY – Police are investigating after several Safeway locations in Alberta were evacuated on Friday due to bomb threats.

In Calgary, police say threats were made to a Safeway at 375 Aspen Glen Landing S.W. around 11 a.m., and the company’s head office on 64th Avenue and 10th Street N.E.

In both cases, police searched the buildings but say no explosives were found.

West of the city, Cochrane RCMP were also called for a bomb threat just before noon.

Investigators determined that there were no explosives within the location.

The store has since been reopened, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Cochrane RCMP Detachment.
