TORONTO – Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory received a major endorsement from outgoing Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion on Friday.
Toronto in providing that co-operation [in the Greater Toronto Area],” said McCallion in a joint media release.
McCallion, who is retiring from politics after 36 years, recently backed Bonnie Crombie for the Mississauga mayoral seat over candidate Steve Mahoney.
The endorsement gave Crombie an immediate boost in the polls a few days later.
McCallion joins a long list of elected officials who have publicly lent their support behind Tory who is considered the frontrunner in the Toronto mayoral race.
Voters head to the polls Oct. 27.
