EDMONTON – Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed an assault downtown on Saturday night that left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Officers say it happened around 9 p.m. near 101 Street and 104 Avenue.
Police believe a 49-year-old man sustained serious head injuries allegedly during a fight on the sidewalk and road outside an office building and bus shelter.
“Frankly, we have little to go on right now,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Brian Robertson, with the EPS Homicide Section. “I’m hopeful someone in the community was in the area and may have witnessed something that can help investigators piece the puzzle together.”
When paramedics arrived on scene, they found the injured man, treated him, and rushed him to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Police officers believe there were witnesses to the assault. Anyone who has information about this crime is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or through Crime Stoppers .
