SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man who pointed a sawed-off rifle at a rap artist during a fight at a hip-hop show will spend four years in prison after pleading guilty to a number of weapons charges.

Timothy Muldoon, 20, was sentenced Thursday after entering the plea to four charges that were laid after bear-spray laced violence erupted at Rock Bottom bar in Saskatoon last December.

Court heard Muldoon – a gang member since his teens – was ordered by an associate of the Terror Squad to look for rap artist Skye Stoney at the bar to deal with issues from an incident at the Prince Albert Penitentiary.

Six other people he was with had bear spray and a machete, but as soon as the accused pulled the rifle from his pants, a customer struck him on the head with a bottle and pinned him to the floor until police arrived.

A 33-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the attack and is still recovering.

Muldoon has had 74 convictions in less than five years, including some for assault, but defence lawyer Lionel Kayseas told court that his client got in over his head with the wrong people and did not co-ordinate the attack.

Kayseas says Muldoon plans to use his time in prison to get an education and leave the gang lifestyle.

Bobby Liebel, 24, has been charged with attempted murder in the attack. He has yet to go to trial.
