SASKATOON – Attempted murder charges have been laid after a man was assaulted at a Saskatoon bar in December 2013.
Police went to Rock Bottom bar on Broadway Avenue early in the morning of Dec. 14 after receiving reports someone had sprayed bear mace inside the establishment.
Officers arrived to find a 33-year-old Saskatoon man outside and in medical distress. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is now recovering.
A 19-year-old man was found inside and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators determined firearms and other weapons were involved in the assault.
Police have now charged two Saskatoon men, 19 and 24, with attempted murder and assault with a weapon.
The 24-year-old appeared in court on Dec. 30 and the 19-year-old made a court appearance on Friday.
Further charges are expected and police have requested warrants for four other people in connection to the assault.
Police say the attack was not random in nature.
