Warmer temperatures causing ice to fall from trees, hydro wires

Raw video: Police tape off condo after ice falling

TORONTO – Warmer temperatures are finally returning to southern Ontario, but that is also causing dangerous conditions due to falling ice.

As of 10 a.m. Saturday morning, temperatures had already risen to 2 C. Falling ice could be heard and seen dropping from hydro wires and trees.

Due to the potentially dangerous situation, people should avoid parking or walking beneath trees or any other structures with significant ice buildup.

Toronto Police has already received numerous calls about ice falling from buildings. One call involved ice falling off a crane at Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East.

Higher winds coming from the southwest are bringing in milder temperatures that are expected to last for the next 36 hours.
