LAC-MEGANTIC, Que. – Firefighters, paramedics, and police who responded to the train derailment in Lac-Megantic were honoured today near the site of the tragedy.
Quebec premier Pauline Marois and Lac-Megantic mayor Colette Roy-Laroche were among those who took part in a ceremony today at the local high school.

First responders and local officials, including Roy-Laroche, were given medals for their service.
Marois says the first responders were a source of strength across the province as residents grappled with the tragedy.
Firefighters came from across the province and even neighbouring Maine to help put out the flames and later sift through the rubble.

Forty-seven people were killed after a runaway train carrying crude oil derailed and exploded near the centre of Lac-Megantic on July 6.
