Man shot multiple times along 17 Avenue S.E.

Gunshots rang out along Calgary’s International Avenue early Wednesday morning, striking one man several times in what police call a targeted attack.

Police say they were called shortly after 4 a.m. in response to multiple shots being fired near the intersection of 17 Avenue and 36 Street S.E. A man, in his 30s, was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to hospital in stable condition.

Investigators closed sections of the roads for several hours, but the area has since reopened to traffic.

Police say the shooting was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the public.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

Police say their efforts to address gun violence rely on strong community support and anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage are asked to contact Calgary Police.
