Global News is projecting Justin Wright will win the Cypress-Medicine Hat seat for the UCP.
Cypress-Medicine Hat is a provincial riding located in southern Alberta.
This riding is currently represented by Independent MLA Drew Barnes who first took office in 2012.
Barnes collected 16,483 votes, winning 67.06 per cent of the vote in the 2019 Alberta provincial election. Barnes announced in January that he will not be running under the UCP banner in the 2023 election. He won the seat for the UCP in 2019.
He was removed from the UCP caucus in 2021 after publicly criticizing Jason Kenney’s leadership.
