TORONTO — Canadian rocker Deryck Whibley is ditching his ex-wife Avril Lavigne’s surname — four years after she filed for divorce.
The Sum 41 singer filed a petition in a Los Angeles court on Thursday seeking to drop “Lavigne” from his legal name.

Whibley added the name to his after they were married in July 2006. The couple announced in September 2009 they had separated. The divorce was finalized in November 2010.
Whibley, 33, wants to go back to being Deryck Jason Whibley.
Lavigne married another Canadian rocker, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, in July.
