Police seek suspect in Wainfleet, Ont. shooting

Police in Wainfleet, Ont., asked residents to shelter in place for a period of time on Tuesday night following shooting in the municipality and search for suspects.

Niagara Regional Police said in a series of tweets before 8 p.m. the incident happened in the area of Concession Road 6 and Wellandport Road.

A shelter in place warning was lifted just after 1 a.m. following an unsuccessful search for a suspect.

Police said that several men arrived at a home in the area and at least one shot was fired. No one was injured as a result of the shooting.

Local officers called in the Ontario Provincial Police to help, as well as a helicopter.

Police believe five suspects were involved.

As of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, four were in custody, the tweets said.

There were no injuries reported in the occurrence.
