Handgun, drugs, stolen property seized in Saskatoon bust

SASKATOON – Police have seized a handgun, drugs and stolen property and charged two more people after an unplated vehicle was pulled over in Saskatoon on Sunday.

It began with a traffic stop in the 700-block of Idylwyld Drive when the vehicle was spotted around 5 p.m. with no licence plate.

The officer spotted the handle of a machete on the floor and arrested the driver.

Further investigation led to the search of two homes on Monday.

A 9mm restricted handgun, ammunition, meth and drug paraphernalia were found in a residence in the 1700-block of Alexandra Avenue.

A search of a residence in the 100-block of Forrester Road turned up 225 grams of marijuana, a stolen laptop computer, cash, scales and a number of other drug trafficking items.

A 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime and possession of stolen property.

The 28-year-old driver of the unlicenced vehicle has had a number of new charges laid against him, including firearm offences and proceeds of crime.

All three are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
