Man trapped underground at Saskatchewan mine rescued

LA RONGE, Sask. – A man who was trapped underground at a northern Saskatchewan mine has been rescued.

Emergency services were called to a mining accident at the Bingo mine site northeast of La Ronge, Sask. around 9:20 a.m. on Saturday.

A worker there was rescued by the local mine emergency response team after being trapped underground for a short period of time.

He was taken to hospital in La Ronge for treatment.

RCMP and the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Board are investigating the incident.
