SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man charged with abducting his daughter in a case that spanned four countries will remain in jail under a bail hearing.
It started when Alexander Levin, 47, and the girl’s Brazilian mother went to the Ukraine from Brazil for a vacation.
It is then alleged he took the girl to the Philippines where he left her and returned to Saskatoon.
The story made headlines in Brazil when the mother made a public plea for the return of her daughter.
Saskatoon police were alerted to the possible abduction in August and charged Levin with parental child abduction last Friday.
Levin will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Oct. 24.
