Hamilton Police say collision reconstruction teams are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision near the Kenilworth Access traffic circle by the escarpment.
Paramedics say emergency crews arrived at the scene just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning and discovered a deceased male driver.
“The vehicle was traveling downbound on the Kenilworth Access and shortly before reaching the bottom of the escarpment, the vehicle lost control, drifted to the right of the roadway and came to rest on the driver’s side,” Cst. Indy Bharaj said in a media scrum at the scene.
Bharaj says the 31-year-old man was believed to have been headed to work in a GMC Sierra truck prior to hitting a fence turning the vehicle on its side.
Police are working to contact next of kin.
Traffic around the area is being rerouted which is expected for several hours.
The incident is Hamilton’s 14th collision fatality.
