Multi-vehicle collision closes Lansdowne Street bridge in Peterborough

At least six vehicles were involved in a collision on the Lansdowne Street East bridge on Monday afternoon – May 9, 2022

A section of Lansdowne Street near the bridge is closed following a serious multi-vehicle collision in Peterborough, Ont., Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the collision before 2 p.m. involving at least six vehicles on the bridge and near the east end at the intersection with River Road.

Peterborough police issued a brief statement saying there were “multiple injuries.”

Lansdowne Street from Locke Street to Ashburnham Drive in Peterborough is closed and there is no access to Lansdowne Street from Sherburne Street or Edward Street.

River Road South traffic is being diverted eastbound on Sydenham Road.

“It’s expected the road will be closed for several hours while the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Reconstruction team investigates,” police stated at 3:30 p.m.

The roadway reopened around 10 p.m.
