A Peterborough man faces impaired driving and other charges following a crash early Friday in Aylmer Street area.
According to the Peterborough Police Service, around 12:30 a.m. emergency crews were called to the area of Aylmer Street just north of Romaine Street for a single-vehicle crash.
Officers found debris scattered along several blocks from Lake Street to Romaine Street, including a downed utility pole, tree limbs and several pieces of the car.
The car also struck a second pole just north of Romaine street.
Police say the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. Police Service Dog Isaac was deployed for a track which helped investigators locate the driver in the area of Clonsilla Avenue and Third Avenue.
A 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with impaired driving (alcohol and drugs), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, failure to report an accident, failure to report damage to property on a highway.
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
He was released appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 10, police said late Friday morning.
