Police confirmed that the shooting took place early Monday near the Black Forest Motel on Westminster Avenue West in the downtown area of Penticton, B.C.

Based on the investigation thus far, RCMP said the incident is believed to be targeted and there is no risk to the public.

“There is a potential victim involved but that person has yet to come forward. There are no reports of injuries however for lack of better wording, an uninvolved vehicle was caught in the crossfire and there has been some damage as a result,” said Const. Dayne Lyons, Penticton RCMP’s media liaison.

According to RCMP, they have been able to identify a vehicle of interest but are still working to confirm the make and model.
