A Langley man convicted in the 2008 hit-and-run death of a 21-year-old will appear in court today to plead that his driving ban is overly harsh.
Brent Parent is serving a five-and-a-half year prison sentence for killing Silas O’Brien with his pickup truck and then leaving the scene in a fit of rage.
Parent — who had more than 60 prior driving convictions — was also banned from driving for 12 years when he’s released from custody.
That’s the only part of the sentence he is appealing.
His lawyer has previously said the ban is harsh and excessive.
He claims it will impede parent from finding work after his release.
