The RCMP major crimes unit is investigating after a man’s body was found unresponsive Wednesday morning in Airdrie.
Police were on the scene in the Willowbrook neighbourhood, blocking off part of the pathway along Nose Creek since shortly after sunrise.
“RCMP can confirm that a deceased person was located. At this time the death is believed to be suspicious,” RCMP said in a statement.
Tannor Kocis’ home is right next to the pathway, near where the body was found. His Wednesday morning was disrupted by a “commotion.”
“I noticed some commotion out back and went out back. I saw a lady who walks her dog along the creek every morning, pretty startled. Next thing you know, RCMP everywhere.”

Kocis never considered his a neighourhood where a body would be found.
“It has a nice little creek along the back and a quiet place to live. So it’s overwhelming,” he told Global News. “We go use that pond all the time to go skating and play with the dog and the kids.”
An autopsy is due in the coming days. The RCMP’s forensic identification section is also part of the investigation.
