Global News is projecting Richard Pootmans has won the seat in Ward 6.
There will be a new representative for the northeast’s Ward 6 after Jeff Davison’s May 12 announcement that he is running for mayor.

For the 2021 election, the communities of Wildwood and Spruce Cliff join Ward 6.
There are four candidates running in Ward 6.
Here’s a quick look at the candidates running for council in Ward 6, in alphabetical order.
Lana Bentley
A former university instructor, Bentley’s most recent role has been in senior leadership in “one of Calgary’s oldest and largest social service agencies.”
Bentley’s election platform themes include city issues, strong economy, strong communities, leadership and Ward 6 priorities.
Duane Hall

With experience in sales, marketing and finance in auto, insurance, commercial and residential real estate, Hall seeks to hold the city’s departments and spending accountable. He also seeks to improve safety on transit.
Sanjeev Kad
An owner of a fast casual franchise, Kad has also served in the community on community association boards. Kad is advocating for improved public safety, economy, transparency, infrastructure, lower spending and lower taxes.
Kad ran for office in 2017, receiving 3.5 per cent for seventh place.
Richard Pootmans
Prior to serving as Ward 6 councillor for two terms, from 2010 to 2017, Pootmans had decades of experience in private and public sector positions.
His platform planks include improving the economy, maintaining public safety, ensuring access to services, finding efficiencies and reduced spending and improving traffic.
In total, 27 people are running for mayor and there are 100 candidates for city council. Eighteen people are running to become Calgary Catholic School Board trustees, while 38 people are running to become Calgary Board of Education trustees.
Election day is Monday, Oct. 18.
