The driver of the car that hit the pole, a 27-year-old man, was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters before being taken to hospital.

Police said he suffered minor injuries while the other driver was not hurt and drove away from the scene after speaking with officers.

The intersection was closed for several hours while the city replaced the pole that was damaged.

Guelph police are asking for anyone who was a witness or has dashcam video to contact police at 519-824-1212 ext. 7186.
