Two people have been injured after a small plane crashed in Mill Bay on Vancouver Island.
First responders received reports of a plane crash in a residential neighbourhood on Hayden Place in the small community north of Victoria around 1:25 p.m.
“I was first on scene, found that we did have a small… plane that did a nosedive into somebody’s backyard,” Mill Bay Fire Dept. Chief Ron Beck said.
A nurse who lived in the area started extracting the individuals inside.
Six ground and two air ambulances were dispatched to the scene where paramedics treated two people. One was airlifted to hospital in critical condition while the other was transferred to hospital by ground in serious but stable condition.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre confirmed a Beechcraft Bonanza with two people on board went down due to engine failure.
