Canada election results: Kootenay–Columbia

Global News is projecting that Conservative incumbent Rob Morrison has been re-elected in the riding of Kootenay-Columbia.

With 265 of 266 polls reporting, Morrison captured 43.8 per cent of the ballot.

In second was NDP challenger Wayne Stetski at 36.2 per cent. Liberal candidate Robin Goldsbury was third at 9.0 per cent.

Stetski won the riding in 2015 by fewer than 300 votes — one of the closest races in the country.

He then lost to Morrison in 2019 by about 7,000 votes.

This time, Morrison was in the lead with about 4,800 votes.

The Conservatives were the favourites here, but with success in the past, the NDP was hoping to win back the electoral district that includes Revelstoke and Cranbrook.
